This is why we have two types of tie line

#4 Cotton tie line (also known as “trick” line) is offered in both “glazed” and “unglazed” versions

Glazed tie line has a waxy coating on the surface which helps the line hold knots tightly for a long period of time. It is useful when you want your knot to stay tied..

Unglazed tie line does not have this glazing, making for knots that are easier to untie.

Used glazed for “tie it and forget it” knots.

Used unglazed when the knot will be tied and untied over and over.
